Today my granddaughter was a member of an eight-person boat as a member of the Long Beach Junior Crew, Novice division. They came in third, seventeen seconds off of first place. The race took place in Newport Beach, sponsored by the Newport Aquatic Club. Two of their crew had just finished rowing another race and obviously weren't at their peak energy.
